During this time, we will be introducing you to: the teaching team, the modules that you will be studying from the following week, organisational aspects, and each other.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Induction Programme for all STEM Foundation and Physics First Year students will run from Monday 8th September to Thursday 11th September (inclusive). There are <a href=\"https:\/\/salfordphysics.com\/index.php\/information-for-returning-undergraduate-students\/\">alternative arrangements<\/a> for students entering Second and Third Year.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Foundation and First Year students need to be prepared to be present on-campus Monday to Thursday for the periods <strong>10am-12pm and 2-4pm for STEM Foundation Year and Physics-based induction events<\/strong><strong> (the Wednesday sessions start at 11am)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4>Induction Programmes for STEM Foundation Year and First Year Physics Students<\/h4>\n<p><strong>LOCATION<\/strong>.\u00a0 Physics Induction events are often in the new SEE Building, but this year <strong>start in the ground\u00a0 floor Peel Building room G09<\/strong>.\u00a0 Peel Building is one of the most historical campus buildings and is sometimes simply called &#8216;the big red one&#8217;! SEE stands for Science, Engineering &amp; Environment (the name of our School). Both of the above buildings, and some others involved in induction week, can be identified in the following <a href=\"https:\/\/salfordphysics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Main-Teaching-Buildings-Salford.jpg\">schematic map<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>September 2025 Induction Programmes can be selected from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salford.ac.uk\/welcome\/on-campus\/your-induction\">main university menu system<\/a>, or a pdf copy can be downloaded from the links below:<\/p>\n<p>\u25ca\u00a0 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/salfordphysics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/2025-STEM-Foundation-Year-Induction-Week.pdf\">Induction Programme for Foundation Year<\/a>\u00a0 \u2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u25ca\u00a0 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/salfordphysics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/2025-First-Year-Physics-Induction-Week.pdf\">Induction Programme for First Year Physics<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2020 The <strong>same<\/strong> Foundation Year induction programme applies for Physics \/ Mathematics \/ Electrical and Electronic Engineering \/ Acoustical &amp; Audio Engineering with Foundation Year.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Presentations<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Detailed <strong>presentations and information slides<\/strong> will be provided in the &#8216;Physics Programmes&#8217; Blackboard space. <a href=\"http:\/\/blackboard.salford.ac.uk\/\">Blackboard<\/a> is our &#8216;Virtual Learning Environment&#8217; (VLE) where course materials are hosted, though the vast majority of your courses will be delivered on-campus in lecture theatres, teaching rooms, laboratories, etc. You will have needed to complete your registration process to access Blackboard course pages.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Centrally-organised Induction Events<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The University and Students&#8217; Union will be running their own events and activities outside of the above days and times during Induction Week.<\/p>\n<p>\u25ca \u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salford.ac.uk\/welcome\/events\">University Welcome Events<br \/>\n<\/a><br \/>\n\u25ca \u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/salford.native.fm\/? _gl=1*1h0gx3g*_ga*MjM4NDY4MDg1LjE2NTMzODAzOTE.*_ga_QTF0DZZPXN*MTY2Mj A0ODQ3MC4yLjAuMTY2MjA0ODQ3MC42MC4wLjA.\">Students&#8217; Union Welcome Events<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Teaching Start (the week after Induction Week)<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Main<\/strong> <strong>teaching starts on Monday 15 September 2025<\/strong>.\u00a0 The Physics Department is based in the new SEE Building (see the maps, and also the floorplan of this building, that are further down this page). If you are unsure where certain rooms are, then please visit Reception at the main entrance of the SEE Building. Reception staff can help you to find your way.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Teaching timetables<\/strong> are now available.\u00a0 Screenshots of these are within the <a href=\"https:\/\/salfordphysics.com\/index.php\/teaching-timetables\/\">Teaching Timetables<\/a> section.\u00a0 They can also be found on the official <a href=\"https:\/\/tt.salford.ac.uk\/\">Online Timetable System<\/a> .<\/p>\n<p>A full <strong>breakdown of the 2025\/2026 courses<\/strong> being taught can be found within <a href=\"https:\/\/salfordphysics.com\/index.php\/current-courses\/\">Current Courses<\/a>, their assessment deadlines are summarised in <a href=\"https:\/\/salfordphysics.com\/index.php\/assessment\/\">Assessment<\/a>, and the structure of the full academic year can be found in <a href=\"https:\/\/salfordphysics.com\/index.php\/year-calendars\/\">Year Calendars<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Buildings Used For Teaching<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>You will find that classes are most commonly held in the SEE, Newton, Chapman, Peel and Maxwell buildings.\u00a0 Occasionally, some other key buildings are also used.
